Geographical surroundings of CoopeVictoria

 

The Victoria Agricultural and Industrial Cooperative is situated in the province of Alajuela, the county of Grecia, and the district of San Isidro. It has an extension of 591.04 hectares of which 79.78 ha are dedicated to coffee plantations, 261.26 ha. to sugar cane plantations. It also has 240.00 ha. of Forest Reserve. In the past years a new property has been acquired in the county of San Carlos, in the Alajuela province, with an extension of 400 hectares, cultivated mostly with sugar cane, although it also has a number of "pejiballe" plantations, from which the heart of palm is obtained.


The area has fertile soil of volcanic origin, with an average elevation of 1.000 m.a.s.l. Its microclimate has an average temperature of 25 C.

The rainy season, as in the rest of the Central Valley, extends from May to December, which favors the main products of the area: coffee and sugar cane.

Also, it’s an area with many sunny days throughout the year and favorable winds and other weather-orientated factors.

In general, the geographical area where the Cooperative is situated has as basic activities, the production of coffee and sugar cane.

The agricultural lands are divided among small and medium farms, which are notable because of their number.
